Spring 2010
Fashion Trends
Spring 2010 fashion trends are leaning toward a “who cares about the recession” theme, trying to distract consumers’ attention away from the retail woes of the recession by going for the glitz, sparkle, shimmer, bright neon colors, bold prints, skin-bearing peek-a-boo garments and maximum leg-revealing lengths.
Here’s the Short on the Mini
If there’s ever a time to hit the gym, now is the time…hemlines are creeping up and up as hot pants, boy shorts, tap pants, mini dresses and skirts reach this season’s hottest leg-revealing height. Pair your short shorts with the season’s hottest knee high or over the knee socks – sporty or sparkly, or layer them over tights…a great pair of socks can add volumes to an outfit.
Military Inspired Jackets and Tops
Top off your mini skirt or micro short with a military inspired jacket or top featuring shoulder pads, metal plating, buttons and embellishments reminiscent of history but reinterpreted with a modern, often futuristic twist.
It’s Time to Bear Some Skin
Cut outs, lace, slits, mesh and sheer fabrics are all the rave this season. Dresses with strategically placed cut outs and flowing, long skirts and dresses with thigh high slits give more than a hint of leg and great visual impact. Complete your spring wardrobe with tops and dresses made out of sheer fabrics or lace used in a multitude of ways: tight sheer pieces and layers creating delicate, feminine draping while keeping you cool and sexy.
Printed and Patterned Pants
A whole new range of wardrobe options are being offered as printed and patterned pants become the focus this spring. Stripes, florals, graphic prints and abstract shapes. Bright and bold, or subtle and sophisticated. Almost anything goes when it comes to trousers, giving us bold wardrobe options for the upcoming warmer months. Bold prints will draw attention to your lower half, so go for a looser fitting harem pant that is relaxed at the hips and tapered down in to the ankles, paired with a fitted top or baggier top that is part tucked in and part untucked for a nonchalant look.
Turn the Volume Up
Feathered skirts and feathered dresses, metallic tops and sparkly bottoms are turning the volume way up this spring. Find all the glitz and glam mostly in mini-skirts and tiny dresses. Pair your glitz with a simple neutral pieces to make the perfect outfit for turning heads. |
